The official name of this unit is volt. Owing to technical constraints, page titles in this wiki are capitalized.

The volt is the SI unit of electromotive force, of electric potential, and of electric potential difference. In casual reference these all three are commonly called "voltage", though formally this word should be used only for the lattermost.

The abbreviation is capital V. There is no corresponding non-SI unit.

It is named after Alessandro Volta (1745–1827), but per SI convention the unit's official name is not capitalized.
